Commander, First Infantry Brigade
Jan. 1972      The military led by Lt.Col. Ignatius Acheampong seized power.
5th July, 1978     

Acheampong was overthrown by his second-in-Command Lt. Gen. Fred Akuffo and other members of the ruling Supreme Military Council (SMC). He was accused of economic sabotage.
16th June,1979      He was executed by firing squad in 16th June 1979 as a result of the June 4 uprising.
