DDO, AKUFO Dr. Edward, M.A. (Oxon); B.L.; D.C.L.; JVl.O.V; O.O.V. Journalist, Jurist and Statesman. BORN: June 26, 1906; Akropong-Akwapim, Eastern Region. Son of Dora Amuafi and William Martin Addo.

Ghanaian. Married. CHILDREN : Male, Two. Female, Two.

EDUCATION: Akropong Presbyterian Middle School; Presbyterian Teachers' Training College, Akropong, Akropong Theological Seminary; trained as catechist;  attended Achimota DR. EWARD AKUFO ADDO      Secondary  School; awarded scholarship to St. Peter's College, Oxford University, England; called tc the Bar at the Middle Temple, London, England (November, 1940) Gained M. A. degree in Mathematics, Politics and Philosophy; B.L.

APPOINTMENTS: Legal Practitioner (1941-62); appointed Judge of the Supreme Court (1962-64); one of the three judges who sat on the Treasoi Trial involving Tawiah Adamafio, Ako Adjei and three others; wa: dismissed together with the other fellow Judges by the late ex-Presiden Kwame Nkrumah for finding some of the accused persons at the Treasoi Trial "Not Guilty" (1964); Chairman, Political Committee of the dissolve N.L.C. (1966-68); Chairman of Ghana Commercial Bank (1967-68; Chairman of the Constitutional Commission established by the N.L.C. t draft a new Constitution for the country (1966-68); Chief Justice of Ghan (1968-70); President of the 2nd Republic of Ghana (Aug. 28,1970 Januar 13,1972). A Founding Member of U.G.C.C, and one of its "Big Six" wh were arrested and detained by the British Colonial Government (Februar 1948) for political agitation advocating Self-Government "within tl shortest possible time"; Member of Legco for Eastern Provincial Counc of Chiefs (1950-51). Awarded the M.O.V.; O.O.V; Honorary Doctor ■ Laws at Oxford University.

PUBLICATIONS: A former Editor of West African Law Reports.
